Dimples Romana

Mom and I met Dimples Romana during the taping days of "Lobo." She is truly a sweet and nice person. We're actually happy to see Dimples in so many projects after her Trixie stint in "Lobo." I think she's even more visible than her other co-stars in said project. Dimples starred in "Agua Bendita," "Mara Clara," among others. She is a fine actress and deserves really good projects. 

Liezel Garcia

Liezel Garcia was my bet to win, or at the very least place third, during their stint at the Pinoy Dream Academy 2. I remember she was a consistent weekly placer that time. She clearly has the talent and the singing voice. I was disappointed when she only finished fourth. I hope that Liezel would be given more breaks by her mother studio. But I'm quite happy that her single "Gisingin Ang Puso" is the soundtrack of Koreanovela "Pure Love" (49 Days).

Nikki Valdez and Beauty Gonzalez

Nikki Valdez is a familiar face on local TV as well as the big screen. A homegrown talent of ABS-CBN Kapamilya channel. She took a hiatus when she got married and had a baby. Now she's back and has appeared on "Imortal." She co-stars with Vice Ganda in his upcoming movie "Praybeyt Benjamin." I love the short hair and she looks absolutely fabulous in this picture. Beauty Gonzalez is the 4th grand placer of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus. I remember watching her on "Alyna" where she played the role of Shaina's best friend. That was actually a good role and showed her comedic side. Just like Nikki V., I like her short hair. (Star Magic Ball 2010)

Helga Krapf and Isabelle Abiera/Max Collins

Helga Krapf has been around ABS-CBN Kapamilya network since Star Circle Quest days. Although she didn't bag any major win during that time, she's been seen around TV shows playing second lead and sometimes even antagonist roles. Helga was seen escorted by JM De Guzman in this year's Star Magic Ball. Her other photo was taken last year. I wonder when this pretty lass will be given more attention.

The artist formerly known as Isabelle Abiera has now returned as Max Collins. Max is now under the care of PPL Entertainment Inc. Like Helga, she's also starred on various TV shows in the Kapamilya network. This time around, she is relaunching her career under a new manager and network. I hope she will shine this time around.

Melai Cantiveros

 

Melai Cantiveros is also called the Princess of the Masses after winning in the fifth season of Pinoy Big Brother. It is no wonder as this lass from GenSan is a natural comedienne. She could be quite funny and actually makes a good host on "I Dare You." Melai and real-reel sweetheart Jason Francisco met as contestants in PBB. Their loveteam is popularly known as Melason. I would say both are lucky too as they were able to star in their own movie and TV show. Melai is also seen daily as one of the hosts of "Happy Yipee Yehey" and as one of the casts of "Banana Split."

Jodi Sta. Maria

Jodi Sta. Maria is truly one of the finest actresses that I enjoy watching on TV. Gone are the teeny bopper days and emerged is a really great actress who truly deserves an acting award. I remember her striking performances on "Walang Kapalit" with Claudine Barretto and Piolo Pascual and "Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara" as the vengeful ghost of Ruth. Currently, it is good to see Jodi back playing Sophia on "100 Days."

Rica Peralejo and Iya Villania

Former "Umagang Kay Ganda" host Rica Peralejo attended this year's Star Magic Ball sporting this stunning red gown. A sexy actress in her earlier years, Rica has not been active much since she got married. Perhaps she'll get back on tv when she finishes her schooling.

Lovely in a classic look, Iya Villania is one of the latest addition to morning show "Umagang Kay Ganda." She's also seen in the afternoon show "I Dare You" which will soon go into Season 2. Plus, she's also one of the regulars every Sunday on ASAP Rocks. I believe she's also a MYX VJ together with Nikki Gil. Australia-born Iya made famous her slang version of "hello" that sounded like "haller."

Pokwang

I think comediennes like Pokwang have all the fun! They get to be funny yet dress up to be elegant as the rest of the belles of the ball! I actually like her sense of style and the funny get ups she would have on her daily noontime show. There truly is never a dull moment when Pokwang is around.

Kaye Abad

It's good to see Kaye Abad make a comeback after quite some time. I liked her character Pepper on Precious Hearts Romances. I wonder what happened to the Kaye Abad - Guji Lorenzana loveteam that was cooked up as a result of the romance series? KayJi as the tandem is fondly called should make another comeback. I think the last time I watched Kaye was as antagonist to Shaina Magdayao on Alyna. I think she did a great job there and hope she'll be given more challenging projects.

Bangs Garcia and Desiree del Valle

Bangs Garcia was launched in "Palos" to complete the love triangle with Jake Cuenca and Roxanne Guinoo. It was talked about then as Roxanne apparently got jealous of her and even referred to her as "that girl." Anyway, we all know how that turned out. Bangs did a good job as antagonist to Cristine Reyes on "Kristine." She's pretty sexy too. We do need more antagonists who look good.

Desiree del Valle is usually cast as an antagonist in most TV shows. She actually plays the role too well. She's part of the cast of "Nasaan Ka Elisa?" (remake of a foreign telenovela) as a detective. Perhaps this time around, she doesn't get to play the bad guy -- or gal for that matter.

Nikki Gil

Philippine showbiz fans love reel and real life couples. Nikki Gil and Billy Crawford really look good together as a couple. They're both good performers too. Nikki is pretty good in some of her acting performances on TV. I liked it when she was paired with Coco Martin in one afternoon soap opera. Nikki and Billy are both good TV show hosts as well.

Lovi Poe and Heart Evangelista

GMA Network Kapuso star Lovi Poe was escorted to this year's Star Magic Ball by Jake Cuenca. The two worked together in a movie project "My Neighbor's Wife" by Regal Films. It is pretty controversial as Jake recently came from a break-up with Melissa Ricks. Lovi is the daughter of late movie legend Fernando Poe Jr. She's a good actress and singer too.

Another GMA Network Kapuso star Heart Evangelista made an appearance at the Star Magic Ball this year. Heart is a former Star Magic artist and also a former ABS-CBN Star Magic talent. She was involved in some controversy with Marian Rivera, a prized talent of the Kapuso network. Plus, her former co-manager Annabelle Rama got mad at her for not renewing her contract with the latter. Does her appearance in this year's ball mean she's planning to go back? I'm not sure how I'll take that. I used to like her till she broke up with Jericho Rosales.

Vina Morales

One of the loveliest faces in Philippine showbiz, a great artist and wonderful performer, it's great to see Vina Morales back on track. I enjoy watching her world-class performances. I think she's doing great in her role as the devious aunt of Elisa on "Nasaan Ka Elisa?" We truly need gorgeous looking antagonists on tv. Vina is such a breeze to watch, perfect for her role too.

Jessy Mendiola

I remember Jessy Mendiola from a Jollibee commercial. She then later on starred opposite Enchong Dee on "Boystown" (a remake of the original 80's movie). Jessy  also starred opposite Coco Martin on "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo" as his love interest. This improved her acting as she stood out in the remake of "Gimik" (the next generation).

Jessy was launched into stardom when she became the lead role in "Sabel" starring with the late AJ Perez and Joseph Marco.

Wow for Jessy's look here. She does look more grown up in this year's Star Magic Ball. I wonder what her next project would be. Plus, she's now being compared to Kristine Hermosa in terms of beauty. Is she going to be given more daring and mature roles after "Sabel"?

Maricar Reyes

I can't help but think that Maricar Reyes is a kapamilya favorite. Since she was discovered and launched, and later on got caught in a sex video scandal, Maricar is hardly absent from tv or movie projects. She has kept mum about the scandal issue and it seemed to turn to her favor. Anyway, I think she's a talented actress.

I may not have liked Maricar's role in "Lovers in Paris" remake as Karen, but I did like her Samantha character on "Immortal." I think she stood out in her performance there. I was sorry they had to kill off her character towards the end.

Maricar's first attendance at Star Magic Ball. Her guesting role on "Betty la Fea" remake paved the way for her movie and tv appearances, but I believe it was the video scandal that made people pay more attention to her. A few years down the line, perhaps not many would remember it anymore. It will be good to watch Maricar as one of the lead characters in any project.

Empress Schuck

Here is another kapamilya princess who was launched in "Rosalka" last year. It's none other than Empress Schuck seen here with new leading man E-jay Falcon on recently concluded "Guns & Roses." Empress has indeed come this far since playing child roles in various movie and tv projects. I wonder what her next project would be.

Venus Raj

2010 Ms. Universe Pageant 4th Runner-Up Maria Venus Raj attended the Star Magic Ball this year. I love this white gown that this towering height beauty queen is donning. I'm sure it made Venus's morena color stand out. Venus has since joined the morning group of "Umagang Kay Ganda."

Kristine Hermosa

A very pregnant Kristine Hermosa attended this year's ball with husband Oyo Sotto. Kristine remains to be one of the prettiest faces. She looks even prettier now that she's preggy. I last watched her on the remake of "Maruja" for television. I think that show was nicely written and I enjoyed watching it.

Jewel Mische and Angel Locsin

Angel Locsin attended the Star Magic Ball in 2009 with then boyfriend Luis Manzano. She was then working on her tv show "Lobo" with Piolo Pascual. She was last seen on tv show "Imortal" which is a sequel to the first. She also recently starred in a movie with Aga Muhlach and Jake Cuenca, entitled "In the Name of Love. "

Angel's switch from the Kapuso GMA Network was quite controversial. She was considered the premier talent then of GMA-7. (Star Magic Ball 2009)

Another Kapuso GMA-7 talent who made the switch to ABS-CBN was Jewel Mische. She was linked to GMA-7 premier leading man, Richard Gutierrez. Jewel first starred as leading lady to Gerald Anderson in tv show "Buhawi Jack." Now she's seen as one of the second leads on "100 Days." I hope she gets more challenging roles as she has quite proven she could act when she also starred in an episode of MMK with Baron Geisler.

Melissa Ricks

Has Melissa Ricks gone daring? Well her latest tv show, an adaptation of the Chilean telenovela, ¿Dónde está Elisa?, surely shows a more mature and daring Melissa. It seemed just like yesterday when she came out as one of top 5 Star Circle Questors when she was just 14. She was talked about more recently because of her break up with boyfriend Jake Cuenca. The two have kept mum about their relationship until the break up. Melissa was escorted to the Star Magic Ball by former love team Matt Evans. Will the two be paired up again?
